Scope:
The scope of this consulting service is the test and development of short and ultrashort pulsed laser processes for manufacturing and material processing operations that require high precision. The service will combine analysis of the application requirements, material behaviour, and the design and experimental testing of the laser system setup and process, to attain the desired operation on the target material (or multimaterial system), and evaluate the validity and benefits of lasers. The target processes can range from micromachining to laser polymerization, structuring, crystallization, etc..., with micron or even sub-micron scale and resolution.
The requesting company must indicate the target application and specifications, the target geometries and minimal validation tests or protocols. The company will provide the base materials for testing, and agree with the provider on the shape and size of the testing coupons.
- Problem Analysis.
- Feasibility Assessment, agreement on experimental plan.
- Simplified tests in relevant samples.
- Results analysis and study.
- Report creation and delivery, with indications of proposed next steps for process development or upscaling.
The extent of the work is expected to span for 2-4 weeks of engineering and experimental work, plus the additional work for briefing and reporting.
