Scope:
This service covers the analysis of an actual industrial laser manufacturing process, and the screening of the process monitoring technologies or in-line/on-line NDT techniques which can provide the measurement, reading and documentation of the process stability and quality desired by the customer. As a consultancy service, the scope will be limited to the range of investigation and scouting allowed by the agreed timespan, and it will not include its deployment, but instead it can include a specific test plan in a relevant environment with available monitoring equipment.
The service can cover any kind of laser process (macro and microscale, high power or pulsed laser processing, on any material), and monitoring technique (optical, magnetic, acoustic, etc…), as well as the basic rules for the interpretation of the signals, but will exclude the system calibration and qualification.
The requesting company must indicate the target application and specifications, and agree with simplified testing conditions to validate the proposed solution, which may be tested either in the customer premises or on the ones of the PULSATE experts, upon previous agreement.
Typical phases may include:
- Problem Analysis
- Technology screening
- Simplified tests in a relevant environment
- Results analysis and study
- Report creation and delivery, with indications of proposed next steps for process development or upscaling.
The extent of the work is expected to span for 2-4 weeks of engineering and experimental work, plus the additional work for briefing and reporting.
