AEROGRAM

Aim: The aim of AEROGRAM is to establish a through-process rout for AM processing of aero-structure components, applied on a demonstrator case.

Brief description: The target component is being manufactured through CNC machining in 17-4PH stainless steel. The finished part should satisfy the class requirements of mechanical properties and surface roughness. The material processed by PBF-LB offers a set of as-build properties that should be engineered after being processed. The current procedures are tailored for conventional manufacturing methods, and it is important to adjust the post-production cycle for AM components towards obtaining a set of desired characteristics.

Benefits: The successful implementation of this project will set the baseline for processing of dematerialized aero-structure components that can offer the same or better performance, while reducing weight, increasing the buy-to-fly ratio and contributing effectively to the environmental friendliness of the part production.
